A Leading Practice is a practice carried out by a health and/or social service organization that has demonstrated a positive change, is people centred, safe and efficient. Health Standards Organization (HSO) and its affiliate, Accreditation Canada, have been identifying and publishing Leading Practices in the Leading Practices Library for over 15 years.
Since 2018, the Canadian Patient Safety Institute, HealthCareCAN and Health Standards Organization with support from Patients for Patient Safety Canada partner together to lead the Recognizing Excellence in Patient Engagement for Patient Safety recognition program. This annual program aims to identify, celebrate and disseminate leading practices in patient engagement for patient safety.
