Patients and families have reported that clinic visits with their cancer care team can be very overwhelming and stressful due to large amounts of new information and the need to make decisions based on what they have been told. Research also shows that patients may forget up to 80% of health care information discussed at clinic visits, making this a safety concern.

A smart phone app: My Care Conversations, was developed to allow patients to safely record their conversations with their care team to help reduce the stress and assist with recall and understanding. During the development, patient & family advisors were engaged through a focus group. Once the app was ready, advisors were asked to beta test and provide feedback. Selected patients were also asked to use the app, once it went live, and again provide feedback.
