The Bayview Campus of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto supports nearly 1100 patient beds and spans three million square feet. We installed an 8-megawatt gas turbine combined heat and power (CHP) generator with exhaust heat recovery to supply 85% of our electricity needs and virtually all our heat. This has significantly improved our power supply and chiller reliability, and therefore patient safety, and also reduced our annual energy costs by $2.7M/year.
