Radiation treatment (RT) is a complex, multidisciplinary enterprise, consisting of many exchanges of tasks amongst various professionals. Each step of a patient’s RT journey may contain inherent hazards. Within our program, there are excellent safeguards in place to prevent an adverse event from occurring. These include the implementation of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary quality assurance program. In addition, a Radiation Treatment Quality Assurance Committee (RTQAC) oversees the management of all incidents and facilitates program changes based on the lessons learned.
