The staff at the Six Nations Birthing Centre, including the Aboriginal midwives, have enhanced their education and skills through taking doula certification training. Doula training complements the existing supportive prenatal care and birthing process used by Aboriginal midwives. Doulas provide emotional care and non-medical support to women. When combined with the professional Aboriginal midwifery skills, the client benefits from the best of both worlds.
