The Cape Breton District Health Authority has developed a clinical trigger for tissue donation named C.A.L.L. This pneumonic stands for C- cardiac death, A – Age (under 80 years old), L- Let the Tissue Bank Screen, L- Less than 24 hours since death. The theme for this tissue donation clinical trigger is Make the CALL. Posters and pocket cards have been distributed throughout the district with this pneumonic. CBDHA implemented the Required Referral policy — Policy 15-20 — which requires staff to refer and screen all deaths under 80 years old for tissue donation and screen those patients that meet the criteria for organ donation.
