The Centre de santé et de services sociaux Baie-des-Chaleurs (CSSSBC) implemented a learning organization project in nursing. This project entails the transfer of skills and knowledge, job integration, and professionalization of nursing duties. In practice, a culture of learning and skills development is gradually taking root within the organization and many training tools (e.g. iPod, Intranet, video, brochures, handbooks, etc.) have been developed to promote skills maintenance and development among nurses. CSSSBC also produced an information video on the concept of a learning organization that has been screened in various venues (conventions, competitions and personalized presentations). This approach integrates the concept of skills maintenance and development into the organizational culture. Many institutions in Quebec and elsewhere have shown interest in this learning organization approach.
