The Lung RAMP Program has significantly improved the care of lung cancer patients at the University Health Network. What was previously an uncoordinated individual referral process is now a coordinated system capable of providing timely, efficient, coordinated care for patients. The system is also capable of monitoring and improving performance continually in real time. The referring physician calls 1-866-LUNG-911, providing important patient information that avoids delays or repetition of diagnostic tests. The patient is called within 24 hours with a diagnostic and treatment plan. They are assured that they will not have undue waits, and that they are plugged in to a competent experienced treatment system with access to world class multi-disciplinary cancer care. Patients are also given information for a specific contact person (navigator’s phone number and e-mail) should they have any questions or concerns.
