The Manitoba Renal Program's Exercise & Wellness Program has had a significant impact on the physical and mental health of people with chronic kidney disease. Individuals have reported having increased self-confidence, enhanced positive outlook, increased energy and stamina, and decreased depression. Patients have reported they can walk farther, take the stairs without getting tired, take fewer medications, and sleep better. Others have said it has helped with their restless legs and weight loss. People report feeling supported and welcome in the 'Lean Keen Kidney Machines' classes and are happy to be in a group that understands and relates to what they are going through. People enjoy the socialization, fun and friends. Patients feel more informed about their options and choices through the information provided and opportunities to speak to other patients.
