The process for the initiation of hemodialysis is actually more efficient using a shower and no-dressing technique as the exit site is more easily assessed without a dressing insitu. Nursing time is utilized more effectively as sites are not cleansed and redressed. This technique allows the patient more freedom and the ability to shower. This innovative technique improves quality of life while reducing transmission of micro-organisms for tunneled central venous catheters.
