To date, over 50 Bermuda Hospital Board(BHB) leaders (more than 25 per cent of our leadership population) have professional development plans in place. In the last year, eight BHB leaders have been hired or promoted with the support of the Succession Planning processes and tools. Furthermore, Bermudian employees are asking about the succession planning process and want to know how they can become involved. Succession Planning (SP) Processes include the DDI Assessments through Development Dimensions International (DDI). Leaders are assessed on 12 competencies. DDI assessment data and Global Leadership Inventory data are communicated to each participant individually via feedback sessions either with a DDI personnel or a BHB personnel. Subsequent Professional Development Plan (PDP) is written in collaboration between participant and his/her manager using the PDP tool. DDI development guidelines specific to the competencies are used to write actions that participants would adhere to advance development. DDI courses are also used to train and develop SP participants in their areas for development opportunities.
