Toronto Seniors Helpline (TSH) consists of a team of registered healthcare professionals and offers essential supports to isolated, vulnerable seniors and/or caregivers. These supports include: access to timely supportive counselling, telephone crisis intervention, activation of the mobile crisis teams, specialized behavioural support services when required, navigation to home and community services, and community support services (with 30+ partner agencies in Toronto). TSH provides accurate information, system navigation, and warm referrals, and can connect callers to the Crisis Outreach Service for Seniors (COSS) for immediate crisis intervention and support, as well as the Behaviour Support Outreach Team.
TSH is open 365 days a year, with phone and web chat support, live answer in French and interpretation in 100+ languages. TSH strives to maintain a 80% live answer rate (voicemails are returned within 24 hours) and answered 49,780 calls this last fiscal year (April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022).
