This is an educational group at The Bermuda Hospitals Board, imparting information about our services, diseases, and recovery. A multi-family group started in November, 2010, and aims to have clients and their families attend a 16 week program to achieve a completion certificate. Since that time, a core group of at least six clients’ families attend on a regular basis, while several other families attend on an occasional basis. A variety of treatment methods are used, including role-play, art therapy, music, and DVD therapy. The Parallel Process model is also used to look at the addict’s relationship with a substance and the family member’s relationship with the addict as parallel.
