Scope: HSO’s Allied Health Education Standard aims to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of educational programs in designated health science professions, thereby contributing to the competency of graduates and the quality of patient care in Canada. The standard criteria are grouped into five sections based on these functions: 1) Student competencies specified in the national competency profile for the profession; 2) Students educational interests and rights; 3) Program resources; 4) Program management and structure; 5) Program evaluation process
Project Need: The standard is being developed to provide organizations training Allied Health students with guidance on how to ensure quality and safety within their unique institutional context; policy makers a blueprint for the requirements to designate organizations training Allied Health students in their jurisdictions; and external assessment bodies with measurable requirements to include in assessment programs.
