Scope: HSO is developing a new standard called Palliative and End-of-Life Care (previously known as Hospice, Palliative, End-of-Life Care), and will specifically target adult populations including seniors.

Project Need: HSO is convening a standards Technical Committee to develop the standard for Palliative and End-of-Life Care. Palliative and end-of-life care is an approach to care delivery provided to those living with life-threatening conditions or serious illnesses. It focuses on improving quality of life, reducing physical and psychological symptoms, ensuring that clients have a peaceful and dignified death, and providing support to families and caregivers.

This standard is intended for use by client organizations that offer palliative and end-of-life care services. The standard is designed for adult and senior populations and is applicable across settings where services are provided, including hospitals, hospices, and the home and community.
