Horizon Health Network is a Regional Health Authority (RHA) located in New Brunswick, consisting of over 13,000 staff based out of 12 hospitals and over 100 medical facilities. We are committed to student engagement and actively support a diverse cohort of students during their learning by accepting student placements. To date, we have partnered with over 200 education agencies (secondary and post-secondary institutions) for hundreds of learning programs resulting in approximately 6000 annually coordinated student placements. These partnerships have strengthened the talent pipeline as all student engagements are vital to future workforce sustainability.

The coordination of student placements is equal to the hiring and onboarding of new staff. Much of the same (proof of immunizations, e-Learnings, criminal record check, etc.) is required before a student learner is permitted access to our facilities, staff, and clients. To support our placement coordination efforts and maximize our placement team’s efficiency, a customized student placement web-based portal was designed, built, and launched. Our student placement portal is a single-entry full-service solution unique to our organization with direct interface capabilities and customer defined dashboards for external stakeholders (education agency coordinators, students, etc.) and internal stakeholders (managers, placement advisors, etc.).

Our solution has reduced placement time from months-weeks to days-hours, and improved patient safety, and client and stakeholder experiences – all while reducing costs.
